Lift the panel up and out after removing the screws. Now it is not reading my speed correctly at all. While driving approximately 40 mph, the instrument panel gauges displayed inaccurate readings. General motors will not repair the problem. I sent the truck to the Crusher. But it only happened intermittently with no way to diagnose the problem. I could send it to you for an overhaul but I'm would like to repair the drain myself, if possible.

This is a well known and a well documented problem, and I believe it to be a severe nationwide safety issue which needs to be addressed to avoid possible injury or death. Also if your battery is draining down due to a problem with the gauge cluster we can fix that as well. Shortly after, I received a letter from gm stating this was a known issue and it would replace or repair the malfunction free of charge on any vehicle with less than 70,000 miles. Thus, the dealer has to transfer the info for you and they wont do that with out it being a dealer product.

Cheap ass taillights are delaminating too! The officer advised him that he was actually traveling 90 mph. All gauges are at the zero mark. I've now had two estimates to repair the speedometer.
The parking brake did not work and the instrument cluster failed as well. The failure mileage was 54,000 and current mileage was 81,000. The manufacturer was not contacted. Then after a few months of that going on the speedometer does not work at all. The place I bought the truck from said I had a bad dash cluster so the replaced it now the warranty is out and I'm still have trouble.
The electronic mirrors wont retract. From reading on the internet I'm not the only one!. When I decelerated while exiting the interstate, the speedometer remained at 65 mph. I really believed that I would be without it for a month or better. The delay shut-down circuit is on the right hand side of the speedometer stepper motor. The oil gauge does not move at all and the dial becomes stuck all the way at the bottom. This has happen a few times and now the speedometer does not work at all.
Upon restart, speedometer appeared to be functioning correctly. However, the problem will likely reoccur on the trip that I am about to make. The dealer stated that the electronic control module needed to be reprogrammed. The speedometer is stuck on 45 mph and does not move up or down. Did this with all the gages. I believe this could be a very hazardous condition and should be investigated.
I believe I have checked all fuses at left hand corner of dash, under dash and the under hood fuse box. Diagnostics don't seem to locate the problem. Now it is not reading my speed correctly at all.
The failure mileage was 97,400. I've now had two estimates to repair the speedometer. Today 85,000miles I was driving on the interstate and my speed stopped at 30 mph and wouldn't go to zero. However, gm knows that they put a defective and unsafe and faulty instrument cluster in these trucks. Check with the dealer about a recall! Diagnostics don't seem to locate the problem.
